Eure,

Nobody tells you THIS about the Great Ocean Road… Nobody tells you THIS about the Great Ocean Road… 👀

📌 Before we jump in, make sure to save this for later!

1️⃣ The 12 Apostles are NOT the most beautiful stop
Yes, they’re iconic and impressive — but there are many other coastal spots we personally found even more breathtaking.
Our top picks:
The Grotto & Baker’s Oven

2️⃣ Summer crowds are intense
In summer, most spots are extremely crowded. We’ve even heard that you sometimes have to line up at places like The Grotto — which completely takes away the magic.

So, Visit in the off season
We went in September and had The Grotto and several other stops almost entirely to ourselves.

3️⃣ Sunrise beats sunset
Sunset at the 12 Apostles is beautiful, but even in off season it’s still very busy.
👉 Sunrise is usually much quieter and feels far more special. We did both and highly recommend it.

4️⃣ Don’t skip the hinterland
It’s a completely different side of the Great Ocean Road that most people miss — and it’s absolutely worth it.

5️⃣ Wind & weather change constantly (especially off season), so be prepared of EVERYTHING! But rain actually makes the waterfalls and the moody hinterland even more magical 🌧️🌿

Did we miss anything?

Can‘t believe most people miss this place 🤯 This Can‘t believe most people miss this place 🤯

This is just 40 minutes from Brisbane and a ferry ride away 🥹⛴️

📌 Add this on your Brisbane itinerary this summer

📍Deadmans Beach | North Stradbroke Island

Straddie has plenty of beautiful beaches, but this one truly stood out to us.

Smaller and more sheltered from the wind than many others, it feels calm and intimate – perfect for slowing down.

What makes it special:
You can walk over a few rocks towards Frenchmans Beach, explore the coastline, and discover small, sheltered coves along the way that feel like little hidden mini-beaches of their own.

Important to know:
Swimming can be fine on calm days, but keep in mind that this beach is not patrolled – always check conditions!

If you’re looking to escape the city, it doesn’t get much easier than this - North Stradbroke Island is easily accessible from Brisbane over Cleveland (sealink ferry) and absolutely worth it – even for a day trip.
